Portman Marylebone, the chic, village-like neighbourhood just north of Oxford Street, is inviting visitors to get into the festive spirit this Christmas with a calendar of special offers, instrumental performances and in-store events. Each Thursday evening, beginning 24 November and running until 22 December, select stores will remain open until late, with many of the area’s cafés and bars giving away free winter warmers and tasty treats while stocks last.

Between 5pm and 7pm, roaming choirs will be performing a selection of classic Christmas carols, while the neighbourhood’s famously quirky boutiques will host a range of free-to-attend events, from the launch of new collections to pop-up vintage shopping opportunities.

Known for its range of independent brands, unique shops and celebrated restaurants, Portman Marylebone is home to some of London’s most distinguished streets. With its Victorian-gothic, red-brick architecture, Chiltern Street, for example, is home to a number of specialist shops, stylish menswear stores, boutique womenswear shops and celebrity-favourite restaurants. Nearby, New Quebec Street provides premium neighbourhood services and shops, where owner-operated independent boutiques create a sense of community. Seymour Place is, perhaps, Portman Marylebone’s most exciting dining destination, offering an extensive choice of independent eateries alongside a dynamic array of shops and services.

Every Thursday, from 24 November until Christmas week, T By Tamara (in Seymour Place), The Grazing Goat (in New Quebec Street), Chiltern Street Deli (Chiltern Street) and Blank Street Coffee (in Old Quebec Street) will be giving out complimentary drinks and Christmas treats. Over on Dorset Street, contemporary tweed tailor Dashing Tweeds will be staying open late to dish out free cocktails – and style advice.

Grey Flannel has traded on Chiltern Street for more than 40 years. An established menswear outfitter, the store sources garments from across the globe from a range of designers. It also offers made-to-measure services. This year, Grey Flannel has collaborated with eco-brand Thread Tales on a genderless collection of modern ready-to-wear garments inspired by the minimalism of Japanese design. On Wednesday 23 November, join Grey Flannel in-store from 6pm until 8pm to discover the collection – as well as some Japanese-inspired cocktails.

Chiltern Street’s PRISM may typically devote itself to fashion-forward resort wear, but until 8 December the store will be hosting a pop-up by Chillie. The pre-loved shopping market place, beloved by Lilly Allen, Annie Mac and Miquita Oliver, has curated a range of vintage items that PRISM will be styling and selling alongside its own pieces. Elsewhere, as part of its own festive celebrations, Japanese woodwork and garden tool specialist, Niwaki, will be staying open until 7pm on 24 November to offer hot sake to anyone who pops into the store. On the same evening, Turkish designer, Sabah, will also be staying open late and offering in-store drinks. Sabah’s shoes are inspired by the traditional Turkish slipper, which have evolved into colourful statement pieces and are handmade by craftspeople in Turkey.
