Back in 2017, one of the biggest fights to occur in combat sports was that between UFC champion Conor McGregor and boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. Two dominant figures in their respective sporting codes, and two figures who would provide the ultimate spectacle for fans and sporting enthusiasts. The unprecedented boxing match was set to be the fight of the century, generating over $550 million USD in pay-per-views.
We all know how that fight went down. McGregor put up a valiant fight against the 15 x world champion boxer – and went much further than pundits had suggested – but eventually hit the mat in the 10th round, losing the fight by TKO. Five years on, McGregor might finally have his chance at redemption.

According to reports by The Sun, Mayweather and McGregor are rumoured to face off once again in a world-record-setting $1.5 billion USD exhibition fight series. While this is still to be confirmed, Mayweather last month revealed that he was in talks to fight McGregor once again.
While both veteran fighters are two of the highest paid athletes of all time, you can see the appeal to fight each other once (or twice) more… money talks, folks.
Mayweather’s ‘The Money Team’ are allegedly in talks with McGregor’s team to lock down the two-fight contract that will see the fighters take to both the boxing ring and MMA Octagon in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, respectively.
As the deal looks likely to be made, it’s worth noting that the two fights would be for an official record, and Mayweather could also be putting his “TBE (The Best Ever)” trademark on the line, so you can expect some hard-hitting action as opposed to two semi-retired fighters having a friendly tussle.
TMT fighter Gervonta Davis and rival Ryan Garcia are also rumoured to headline the undercard for the first fight in the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor: Part II event.
