Whether you are looking for a super club with a super start DJ or are in the mood for a bit of live music, here are some of the places with the best nightlife in England.

1. Manchester

You’ll find some of the best nightlife in the UK in Manchester. This is especially true when it comes to live music, as the city is home to some iconic venues. The Northern Quarter is one of the trendiest districts where you’ll find cool pubs and quirky bars. There are so many places to party here, but some of our favourites are Terrace, Cane & Grain, Flok, Pen and Pencil, Twenty Twenty Two, and the Freemount. The Northern Quarter is also home to some really great live music venues. Check out the bands playing in Band on the Wall, and Matt & Phreds.

2. York

York has a great nightlife scene and is actually one of the safest cities in England for a night out. Many people consider York a safe place for people to walk home at night, meaning you can save money by not having to catch a bus or taxi home. But always use your common sense and trust your gut when deciding to walk home after a night out, no matter how safe it feels. York also has a great reputation for being a friendly city, so a night out here is usually fun and stress-free, and no doubt you’ll make lots of new friends on the dance floor. York has huge nightclubs like Kuda, its high population of students means there are cheap drinks to be had, and there are plenty of cool bars to check out in the Latin Quarter.

3. Liverpool

With its wide variety of nighttime venues, Liverpool is one of the UK’s top nightlife destinations. One of the best things about a night out in Liverpool is that many of the most popular places are conveniently located in the town centre and within walking distance of each other. So, no night buses or expensive taxis to take to get around. Concert Square and Seel Street are some of our favourite places to visit on a night out. On Mathew Street, you’ll find the iconic Cavern Club, where the Beatles played hundreds of times. For the best selection of cool, trendy bars, head to the Baltic Triangle, where you’ll also find underground clubs where you can dance the night away.

4. Blackpool

Blackpool, the seaside resort in Lancashire, is one of the best places in England for a boozy night out. Its relatively cheap alcohol prices and an impressive selection of bars and clubs make it so popular. For its size, Blackpool really is a big hitter when it comes to nightlife. Take your pick from cool cabaret clubs, trendy wine bars, pulsating nightclubs and traditional pubs. Whatever you are into, you’ll find it here.

5. Newcastle

Newcastle is one of the UK’s favourite student cities. This means there are student nights every day of the week all across the city. This makes partying rather cheap compared to other places in England. For bars, restaurants, and clubs, all overlooking the water, head to Quayside. This is the best area for groups, as there is a range of options from fancy bars to Wetherspoons, so there’s something for everyone. The Diamond Strip is another happening spot filled with swanky bars and glamorous clubs. It’s the place to head on a weekend night.

7. London

London is famous for its high-end clubs, live music venues and atmospheric pubs. The sprawling metropolis can be a little overwhelming when deciding where to go on a night out, but you can’t go wrong if you head to SoHo. This is one of the best places in London for nightlife, especially ridiculously fun cabaret clubs. There are several spots to catch an old-school cabaret and burlesque show, including Late Night at the Midnight Lounge. Camden is another great nightlife area and is home to rock and indie bars and iconic music venues, while Mayfair is the opposite with fancy cocktail and hotel bars. Some of our favourite venues are Fabric in Farringdon, Heaven near Charing Cross station, and Ministery of Sound in southeast London.
