Tudor kicked off their Watches & Wonders campaign with a bang unveiling a number of refreshing new iterations to already established – and loved – collections.
The Black Bay collection was the star of the show, seeing updates – and a completely new watch – added to Tudor’s portfolio.
For those unaware, Tudor is the baby brother of Rolex; a subsidiary of the luxury Swiss watchmaker that presents a fascinating proposition for those looking to enter the watch world. My first watch was a Tudor Black Bay; a watch I wear every day and a watch that without miss will always garner admiration from watch lovers. It really is the perfect first watch.
Here’s everything you’ll find from the new Tudor release.
Tudor Black Bay 31, 36, 39 and 41
New to the popular Black Bay collection is a 31, 36, 39 and 41 models, all of which bring a unique aesthetic to the Black Bay line. Available in steel and yellow gold with a fixed bezel, expect curved cases highlighted with polished yellow gold sections, in-house Manufacture Calibre movements and the new five- link bracelet which comes with the Tudor “T-fit” clasp, allowing for optimal comfort.
A note on the Manufacture Calibres: these models are at the cutting edge of technical watchmaking refinement, with calibre MT5201 ushering in a new family of in-house Tudor movements. A great selling point for this collection.
Tudor Black Bay Chrono
The new Tudor Black Bay Chrono pays homage to Tudor’s close ties to the world of motorsports, ever since the Oysterdate was introduced in1970 – the brand’s first chronograph. The Black Bay Chrono S&G models combine these traditions in a sporty-chic way, offering contrasting sub-counters and a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, with column wheel and vertical clutch.
The dial, offered in a champagne colourway, is gorgeous. Strap options are also plentiful, including a Jacquard Strap, Steel and gold bracelet (pictured) or bund strap.
Tudor Black Bay GMT
A highlight of the new release collections at Watches & Wonders, the new Black Bay GMT, with its ‘root beer’ dial, is a fantastic option for those who are constantly on the go thanks to its intuitive GMT function. Immediately recognisable by its 24-hour graduated rotating bezel, the Black Bay GMT also gives a subtle aesthetic nod to the history of this watchmaking function.
Tudor’s integrated in-house Manufacture Calibre is also present; a movement that ensures reliability, robustness and precision, with an impressive 70 hours power reserve. The Tudor Black Bay GMT is available on a steel and gold bracelet (pictured), Jacquard-woven strap or leather strap.
Tudor Black Bay Pro
One of favourite pieces to be presented at Watches & Wonders, the Tudor Black Bay Pro presents a new technical disposition with a completely new aesthetic. Aptly named the Black Bay Pro, what you’ll find is an easy-wearing 39-millimetre diameter, a fixed steel bezel and a Manufacture Calibre with built-in GMT function. This tool-driven timepiece isn’t what you’d expect, though. It’s not cumbersome nor does it impact everyday wear. Instead, it’s compact, robust and sporty, boasting unique aesthetic details.
Recognisable by its 24-hour graduated satin-brushed fixed bezel and its orange 24-hour ‘Snowflake’ hand, Black Bay Pro is powered by the Tudor in-house MT5652 with a built-in GMT function. Available on a steel bracelet (pictured), Jacquard-woven strap or leather strap.
Tudor Royal
The new Tudor Royal is sporty, it’s chic and it will appease a wide demographic. With its integrated metal bracelet, notched or diamond-set bezel and automatic movement, the Tudor Royal range is the epitome of a versatile and affordable timepiece. Royal, a name used by Tudor in the 1950s to emphasise the superior quality of its watches, continues on the tradition of Tudor’s exceptional watchmaking prowess, boasting first-class technical performance and a refined aesthetic that bridges the gap between a sports watch and a classic dress watch. It comes in stainless steel (pictured) or gold and steel and is offered in four sizes with nine possible dials.
