Cara Delevingne teams up with Karl Lagerfeld’s eponymous label for a capsule collection to honor their close friendship. The range of genderless pieces shares the duo’s ethos on inclusive fashion.

“We’ve been working on this collaboration for a couple of years,” Delevingne tells Vogue. “I truly believe [Karl] would be really proud of what we have created and how we have created it—without defining who should wear the pieces, allowing the person to dictate what the fashion really becomes.”

Life changing

Their artist-muse relationship began in 2012 when the model was cast to walk Chanel’s Spring show. Although she was nervous, the French house’s creative director at the time gave her encouragement, which may last her a lifetime. “He walked straight up to me and told me, ‘you are meant to be here,’” the 30-year-old recalled in the interview.

“Having that reminder and reassurance from him meant everything, and I think changed my life in ways I’m still unable to comprehend.”

Sharing ideas

The new line, titled “Cara Loves Karl,” is composed of transformative sustainable outerwear, footwear, and accessories. For example, the fur jacket is reversible for color options, while there’s a shirt with a detachable collar.

“I’m honored to be able to partner with the only fashion house that carries Karl’s name and get the chance to make a personal contribution to his legacy,” Delevingne says about the collaboration. “It’s been great to share my ideas with the creative team, have a say in the designs, and just have some fun in the process.”
