American fashion designer Tom Ford, who resides at the former home of society couple Betsy and Alfred Bloomingdale, lives a stone’s throw from the house, in a sprawling mansion on the same street.

David Parnes, the principal of The Agency, the real estate firm representing the sale, said: ‘We are honoured to be representing The Reserve. This legendary estate is a unique blend of art deco and contemporary décor constructed and designed with exacting precision and sophistication.’

Raised in Surrey, Candy has a long history of property development. In 1995, the English businessman and his brother, Christian, bought their first home, a one-bedroom flat in Earl’s Court using a £6,000 loan from their grandmother. The siblings went on to renovate the apartment while living there, making a £50,000 profit after selling it 18 months later. They would go on to establish Candy & Candy in 1999, the real estate business now known as Candy London.
