The Londoner, Leicester Square

What’s better than a day spent celebrating with your children? A day spent celebrating without them. At least according to the team at luxury hotel The Londoner, which has enlisted legendary children’s entertainers Sharky & George to keep little ones out of sight and mind while mum tucks into a decadent afternoon tea at The Stage champagne bar, or lunch at the hotel’s Mediterranean restaurant Whitcomb’s. Alternatively, exchange your offspring for a robe and slippers, then sit back and enjoy some well-deserved peace and quiet in the serene spa. A perfect Mother’s Day indeed.

Quagliano’s, Green Park

Located in the heart of St James’, inside a beautiful art-deco ballroom, Quagliano’s is promising a sophisticated Mother’s Day experience. Treat your mum to a special lunch menu featuring whisky and maple cured salmon, wild mushroom and winter truffle risotto and a classic Sunday roast with 28-day-aged Hereford beef rib eye, duck fat potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and port jus. For those with a sweet tooth, the pear and blackberry crumble cake, mulled wine and red currant sorbet, and chocolate raspberry fondant and tonka bean ice cream make for impressive desserts.

Soulful sounds from Katy and Otty will complement the meal. Katy has performed with top artists including Justin Timberlake and Gary Barlow, while the Otty Quartet is a Motown and soul group that has previously performed at Glastonbury. After dinner, pick a cocktail from the Art Within Mixology menu, which is inspired by the four corners of the globe. Our top pick is the Aphrodite for the Mediterranean, a unique concoction of Ginepraio gin and Tio Pepe-infused sage, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, Evangelista Ratafia and orange bitters.
