ANNE BARGE

Anne Barge is having a Bridgerton moment. Known for her old school romance and glamour, her 2023 collection has a rather enchanting, not to mention timely, British socialite feel to it. During the presentation models frolicked around a pristinely manicured English country garden, with the soundtrack of quickening violins adding a huge sense of anticipation. ‘I envisioned a bride in one of these lush topiary gardens, beneath a trellis of roses, looking breathtaking,’ said Shawne Jacobs, the Anne Barge creative director. ‘I thought of floral appliqués, flowing trains, bare shoulders, and pops of soft colour. I wanted to capture the essence of natural beauty.’ There were billowing A-line ballgowns aplenty, as well as splendid column dresses reminiscent of the Givenchy gown that Audrey Hepburn wore in Sabrina.
