Built in 2016, the sleek and contemporary eco-friendly mansion is much like the designer’s luxury brand.

After Estée Lauder Cos. acquired Tom Ford’s eponymous fashion label at $2.8 billion, the designer reportedly purchased the Palm Beach mansion near the end of last year.

The deal was made off-market but seller Rob Heyvaert, founder and managing partner of private-equity firm Motive Partners, bought the house for $35.75 million in 2021.

In the past, Ford has owned mansions designed by Tadao Ando and Richard Neutra. His newest home features architecture by Daniel Kahan of Smith and Moore Architects and interiors by Penelope Irwin.

Kahan earned an award from the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach in 2019 for this particular structure.

According to The Real Deal, the home sits on a roughly one-acre plot with “a 10,200-square-foot, three-bedroom mansion and a two-bedroom guest house … The houses have a total of five bathrooms and four half-bathrooms.”

The main house is single-level with a sleek white and black exterior. Described as “classical, yet modern” the home boasts high ceilings, bleached oak floorboards, and several French doors which open out to the courtyard.

“It was important that we maintain a rigor of simplicity and consistency throughout,” Kahan said.

The garden, with landscaping by Mario Nievera, is surrounded by palm trees. The open area has a rectangular lap pool and decked entertaining space.

The eco-modernist mansion has 230 solar panels lining the roof as well as water-collection and water-purification systems. Kahan obscured the panels from view and used grass on the rooftop to absorb excess heat.

“We sought to study and implement the latest technologies and advancements in solar power—in combination with the idea of roof gardens—in a way that would be not only efficient and functional but beautifully composed,” Kahan told Palm Beach Daily News.

Ford also currently owns a Holmby Hills estate in LA and homes in London, New York City, and his hometown in Santa Fe, Texas.
