Hilton has opened the first Canadian property under its Canopy brand, with the unveiling of the Canopy Toronto Yorkville.

The 184-room hotel is located at 387 Bloor Street East in the city’s Yorkville district, within walking distance of the Royal Ontario Museum, Gardiner Museum and Casa Loma, as well as Sherbourne subway station.

Facilities include Canopy Central – the brand’s signature lobby area – featuring a local art collection, as well as an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and 3,500 square feet of meeting and events space.

There are also two F&B venues under executive chef Justin Raponi – Dia, offering “a variety of dishes including memorable cheeses, Roman-style pizza and more”, and Virtu Café and Provisions which is set to open in the coming months.

The Canopy by Hilton brand was launched in 2014, with the first mainland Europe hotel opening in Zagreb in November 2018.

There are currently around 35 Canopy hotels open worldwide, with another 30 properties under development. Recent North American openings include Canopy by Hilton New Orleans Downtown, and Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop.
