Wrapping up against the winter chill, the Princess of Wales pulled on a classic L.K.Bennett Darwin jacket – a chic shearling number which has been in her wardrobe for over a decade – and a favourite fair isle knit jumper by Holland Cooper. The practical streak continued with a pair of slim-fit jeans, and hard-wearing brown boots by Blundstone.

The princess joined Kemp, son of Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp, for a stroll to discuss the importance of mental health and early childhood development, as part of her new Shaping Us initiative, launched this week. Kemp, who is a champion for the royal project, touched upon how he became a public advocate for better mental health care and support following the suicide of his close friend and producer, Joe Lyons.

‘I know how passionate you are about mental health,’ Kate says in a short film released to promote the partnership. Kemp replies: ‘I have got into this world in a way that no one really should do. I wish I wasn’t associated with the word suicide.’ The princess continues: ‘The importance of having healthy, strong relationships in a child’s life [it is] really critical.’ She later adds: ‘This isn’t just about raising kids; it’s about shaping futures.’
