The plot follows the story of Trinity Dublin students Frances, played by Alison Oliver, and her brash and confident ex-girlfriend-turned-best-friend Bobbi, played by Sasha Lane, as they navigate the choppy waters of adulthood. After meeting 30-somethings Nick Conway, a handsome and mysterious actor, played by Alwyn, and his wife Melissa, played by the ever cool and beautiful Jemima Kirke, Nick and Frances begin a full-blown affair, as Bobbi and Melissa share a flirtatious relationship.

After spotting Melissa – a reasonably famous writer – at a spoken-word recital where the friends are performing, the 21-year-olds are thrust into the couple’s ‘mature’ world of interior decorating and drinks parties, against the backdrop of their gorgeously designed Georgian mansion. Unused to the intimidation of mortgages and married life, Bobbi tries to assert her ‘worldliness’ through her outspoken comments and brash behaviour, whilst Frances looks nervous and out of place as she drifts about their home in an apparent state of awkward self-consciousness.
