Adagio has outlined its expansion plans for 2023, with a total of 11 aparthotels set to open including the brand’s first property in sub-Saharan Africa.
A joint venture between Accor and the Pierre and Vacances Center Parcs Group, Adagio celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, and currently operates around 125 properties across 14 countries.
The majority of the new sites are located in France and Belgium, with imminent openings including Adagio Original Antwerp City Centre, Adagio Original Gent, Adagio Access Montpellier Centre Comédie and Adagio Access Lyon.
Further ahead the brand is scheduled to open Adagio Original Toulouse La Grave in the second quarter of 2023, followed by Adagio Original Boulogne-Billiancourt in the third quarter, and Adagio Access Rouen Centre in the fourth quarter.
Outside of these two countries Adagio will welcome its first aparthotel in the Ivory Coast, with the 100-key Adagio Original Abidjan Marcory scheduled to open in the third quarter.
And towards the end of this year the brand will also unveil Adagio Access Rome Colombo and Adagio Original Heidelberg in the fourth quarter.
Finally Adagio will open its ninth property in the UK later this year, with the unveiling of the 137-unit Adagio Original London Whitechapel.
The East London aparthotel will feature the first Coliving apartments outside of the brand’s pilot project which launched in Paris in 2022.
The concept is designed “to accommodate larger groups travelling together, meeting and spending a lot of time together either for business or leisure.
Commenting on the news Thomas Lamson, chief development and projects officer at Adagio, said:
“Since inception in 2007 and over the past 15 years, Adagio has largely consolidated its position as the market leader in aparthotels in Europe.
“The year 2022 was a sign of the resilience of the business model of the aparthotel sector, with numerous new deals and openings as well as an enormous overall performance, which was well above that of 2019 and that of the traditional hotel market.
“2022 marked another turning point for Adagio with the creation of a new brand identity, designed by internationally renowned agency Saguez & Partners, which encapsulates Adagio’s three key brand values: courage, sharing and taking responsibility.
“In addition to the eleven planned openings, Adagio 2023 will introduce two new concepts: a new and totally innovative Adagio Access 3-star apartment and the new Coliving Access Apartment.”
In December Adagio unveiled its second Scottish property, located on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
