So far, Mike Tindall’s talents range from rugby star to lively podcast host. Now, in a surprising turn of events, the husband of the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, is adding to his already eclectic CV with the release of his own gin brand.

Tindall has launched the drink with his friends James Haskell and Alex Payne, who are also the co-hosts of his show, The Good, the Bad & The Rugby. The gin, which sports the phrase ‘ride the storms and celebrate the sunshine’, is named ‘Black Eye’ and comes in a matte black bottle.

The website describes the alcohol as being ‘an exceptionally smooth gin with a fresh citrus-forward, subtle floral notes, finished with a juniper burst and rounded off with a very rare and secret ingredient that you won’t find in any other product in the world’. The ex-England player is also providing buyers with the opportunity of purchasing a signed bottle.

Tindall’s grandmother-in-law is also known to be a fan of the beverage, typically enjoying a gin cocktail with Dubonnet, a French aperitif made from fortified wine. According to the Queen’s former royal chef Darren McGrady, Her Majesty’s favourite gin brand is Gordon’s London Dry Gin.
