There is a special Grey Goose cocktail menu for the occasion. Prelude to a Kiss is a fruity, refreshing blend of the vodka, elderflower, pear, peach and jasmine soda. From the main cocktail menu, entitled Black Magic Cocktails, the crowd favourite is Kiki de Montparnasse (Grey Goose, St Germain, Martini Ambrato, Champagne), though New York New York (Tanqueray, cream, orange flower, citrus, egg white, London Essence soda) triumphs for gin lovers. Bijoux de Famille (Casamigos Reposado, Belsazar Red, Yellow Chartreuse, lime oil) tempted my tequila-loving sister. How much of that is down to the fact that George Clooney owns Casamigos is up for debate; but it’s a kicky tonic to a long day at the office.
In between the three half-hour jazz sets, the band could be found in the Cabana above, instruments sprawled across its tables, looking like a real New Orleans pack. It is a completely different experience to the hedonistic weekend evenings; a joyous after-work treat.
All this to say: either way, Louie London is one hot date.
