A new restaurant has landed in the heart of Cardiff and it is one to be excited about! Say hello to the beautiful new Browns Brasserie & Bar in Cardiff.
Browns Brasserie & Bar is a British chain of restaurants, mostly located in the south of England. Browns was the first hospitality venture established by Jeremy Mogford in 1973, where they opened the doors for the first time in the seaside town of Brighton. You will now find Browns restaurants all over the country in locations that are quintessentially British and rich in heritage.
It was a pleasure to try the brand-new Browns Brasserie & Bar in Cardiff, which is attached to Cardiff Marriott Hotel. If you are anything like me and love food and eating out, Browns is one to add to your ‘foodie’ list! As soon as I arrived at the restaurant, I was instantly impressed with the beautiful decor. The blue and gold tones added a great pop of colour and it felt very luxurious.
No matter what time you visit Browns, you can enjoy a gorgeous, varied menu of homemade dishes whether that be lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. Each day brings a new reason to visit, fillet steak specials, weekend bottomless brunches to Sunday Roasts, and of course, their traditional afternoon tea.
I was impressed with their selection for all dietary needs, with deliciously satisfying plant-based options and a full standalone gluten-free menu, accredited by Coeliac UK.
My lovely waitress made the dining experience even more enjoyable. She really couldn’t do enough for us! She was really friendly, had great knowledge of the food on the menu and enjoyed getting to know us.
To start, we thoroughly enjoyed the camembert for two. This was rosemary, thyme and garlic baked camembert, with honey, toasted sourdough, figs, pear, caramelised seeds and green tomato chutney. The starter was presented so well and arrived on a huge sharing platter – it was very photo worthy!
If you love steak, you have to try a steak dish at Browns. It was delicious! The Steak Frites were light enough to be able to enjoy dessert afterwards, which meant I couldn’t turn down the home-baked chocolate brownie. It arrived with honeycomb ice cream and dark chocolate bark.
If you are partial to a pretty cocktail whilst out for dinner, the Strawberry Royale Cocktail will go down a treat. It has Ciroc Vodka, strawberry, lemon and Moët & Chandon Impérial Champagne. It has the most gorgeous flavour to it and is so easy to drink. As someone who isn’t big on alcohol, this was the perfect thirst quencher.
The vibe in the bar was an atmosphere you can’t quite beat. In the heart of Cardiff where rugby is so important, this bar is going to be electric on game days. You can enjoy a mix of hand-crafted cocktails, premium and artisan spirits, and a fine selection of wine and Champagne. This is a great social space to catch up with friends and loved ones.
Bottomless Brunch
At Browns Cardiff, you can also enjoy Bottomless Brunch which is served every Friday to Sunday until 2 pm. If you are looking for a get-together with your friends, treat yourself to a fabulous Bottomless Brunch at Browns, with free-flowing Champagne, Aperol Spritz, Bellinis, prosecco and Bloody Marys.
Some delicious specials on the menu include Eggs Benedict, Mushrooms on Sourdough, Chargrilled Chicken & Bacon Club, Browns Burger and Smoked Pancetta Buttermilk Pancakes!
Sunday Roast
If you love a Sunday dinner, you can round off your weekend in food heaven with a Roast at Browns. Freshly carved, and served with all the trimmings, choose from Sunday favourites including their famous roast beef with giant Yorkies, slow-cooked salted pork belly and the decadent sharing Sunday Chateaubriand.
If you aren’t quite a roast lover, you can still enjoy their a La Carte menu on Sunday too.
Afternoon Tea
If you are looking for ways to celebrate a loved one’s birthday or looking to spoil a loved one, the Afternoon Tea in Browns sounds amazing! This is served daily from 3 pm to 5 pm.
You will enjoy a delectable assortment of savouries, warm scones with seasonal jams, and irresistible mini cakes and puddings. These can be enjoyed with a pot of tea or a chilled glass of Champagne.
The great thing about Browns is, no matter the occasion, there is something for everyone! There is always an occasion at Browns.
