A true ‘Crystal Palace’, it’s a symphony of divine, decadent chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows and puffed-up velvet sofas. With 15,000 Baccarat pieces of glassware glittering throughout the 114-room building, this hotel is all about seriously plush tactile decadence. It is the epitome of ‘more is more’ aesthetic and I couldn’t love it more.
The bar is divine, a proper grown-up New York cocktail bar. Perfectly made cocktails served in beautiful Baccarat glasses, spicy homemade nuts and briny olives. You can’t help but feel both fabulous and totally at home. Here, dirty vodka martinis are a must!
The rooms are vast and comfortable, where the bed is huge and cloud-like, and the marble shower is like a rainwater waterfall. The products are from Diptyque whose deep luscious scents really add to the glamorous feel of the hotel. The spa is the first La Mer spa in the US and a haven of relaxation. The room service was wonderful; they accommodated my jet-lagged need for a gluten-free croque monsieur in the middle of the night. It’s the kind of place where nothing is impossible.
It’s luxury done in a fabulous, sexy way. Enveloping and grown-up without being stuffy. I’m already planning my return.
