‘Earlier this month I met President Zelenskyy at Buckingham Palace to express my personal support for the people of Ukraine. It is heartening that the United Kingdom, along with its allies, is doing everything possible to help at this most difficult time.  Therefore, I can only hope the outpouring of solidarity from across the globe may bring not only practical aid, but also strength from the knowledge that, together, we stand united.’

The Royal Family, led by King Charles III, has been outspoken in its support for the Ukrainian people and have taken part in a number of engagements highlighting their cause. On the eve of the Queen’s funeral, the Princess of Wales held a meeting with the Ukrainian First Lady, Olena Zelenska, at Buckingham Palace. The Princess of Wales has also met with displaced Ukrainian families living in the UK. She also previously wore a Ukrainian flag on a visit to a cultural centre – a clear show of support.

Meanwhile the King and the Queen Consort have championed the work of organisations supporting Ukrainians now living in the UK. As recently as last month, the couple spoke with members of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain during a visit to Bolton. The Queen Consort also hosted Zelenska at a Buckingham Palace reception campaigning for an end to gender-based violence.
