In a bespoke breastplate and boiler suit by Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson, nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna set the stage alight during the Apple Music Halftime Show at the 2023 Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. She also used to moment to announce she is pregnant with her second child.
A representative for the singer confirmed the happy news to The Hollywood Reporter just moments ago.
In the 13-minute spectacle (which up until Thursday had reportedly 39 different versions of its set list), 34-year-old Rihanna revealed a burgeoning baby bump as she sang and danced her way through “We Found Love”, “Where Have You Been?” “Diamonds” “Work” and “Umbrella”.
“When I first got the call to do it again this year, I was like, ‘You sure?’ Like, I’m three months postpartum, like, should I be making major decisions like this right now? Like, I might regret this,” she said during the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference. “But when you become a mum, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world, you can do anything.”
“And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. So as scary as that was, because I haven’t been onstage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. And it’s important for me to do this this year. It’s important for representation, it’s important for my son to see that.”
