Tatler’s Wedding Editor takes a closer look at Vivienne Westwood’s 2022 bridal collection

One should never underestimate the cause and effect Westwood has had on the history of British fashion, making her one of the most iconic fashion designers of our time and, indeed, a national treasure. She rose to fame after launching her King’s Road shop in 1971 alongside Malcolm McLaren (who famously managed the legendary Sex Pistols), calling it ‘Let it Rock’. Producing T-shirts with provocative messages consequentially led to the pair being prosecuted. As a result, the shop was renamed ‘Sex’ in 1974 and later ‘Worlds End’ in 1980, as it is now known. During this period, she was at the centre of introducing modern punk and new wave fashion into the mainstream.
