There are a host of special events planned to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and one is set to stir particular excitement among fans of TV soaps: a special Platinum Jubilee EastEnders episode, guest-starring Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

BBC News reports that the royal couple will join the cast for a street party celebrating Her Majesty’s 70-year reign, in scenes filmed at the show’s Elstree set in March. The episode will air on BBC One on the first night of the Jubilee bank holiday weekend, 2 June.

EastEnders star Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter on the show, said that Charles and Camilla had been ‘amazing sports’, adding: ‘I just hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.’
