Flybe has announced plans for two “new” routes to the Isle of Man.

The regional carrier has previously served the British Crown Dependancy – including a route from London Heathrow – but this is the first time the airline will have offered flights to and from Isle of Man airport since its reincarnation in April this year.

From the end of October Flybe will offer a five-times-weekly service between Heathrow and the Isle of Man, as well as six-times-weekly flights from Belfast City.

In a statement Isle of Man airport’s director, Gary Cobb, said:

“We are very happy to welcome Flybe to the Island and the routes show the continued strength of the recovery to the aviation industry and passenger volumes to our airport.

“We believe these routes will add choice and flexibility of which can only be of benefit to the Island – something which I know is welcomed, based on customer feedback.”

Loganair also flies between Heathrow and the Isle of Man, having resumed the route in May this year – the carrier also flies between the island and Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London City and Manchester.

Meanwhile Easyjet serves the island from Belfast International, Bristol, Liverpool, London Gatwick and Manchester.

Flybe recently announced plans to launch flights from Newquay to Heathrow and Manchester this winter.
