American Airlines has outlined plans for its summer 2023 flights to Europe, with a 14 per cent increase compared to 2022.

In total the carrier will offer up to 64 daily flights to European destinations this summer, of which nearly half (26) will operate into London Heathrow.

Rome Fiumicino will see seven daily flights, with six to Paris CDG, five to Madrid, four each to Barcelona and Dublin, and three to Athens.

There will be twice daily services to Amsterdam and Frankfurt, and daily flights to Lisbon, Munich, Milan, Venice and Zurich.

In terms of summer seasonal routes, next month will see the launch of flights from Charlotte to Madrid and Rome, as well as between Dallas and Madrid.

In May American will launch services between Philadelphia and Venice; Chicago and Barcelona; New York JFK and Athens; Dallas and Amsterdam; and Charlotte and Dublin.

Finally in June the carrier will add flights from Chicago to Athens and Dublin, and from Paris to Charlotte.

Earlier this year American Airlines announced plans to expand its route between Charlotte and London Heathrow this summer.

A third daily frequency will launch on April 15, 2023, departing Charlotte at 2325 and arriving into Heathrow at 1215 the following day, with the return leg leaving London at 1655 and landing back into Charlotte at 2032.

AA is by far the biggest carrier at Charlotte, and the only airline to offer nonstop flights between the North Carolina city and the UK.

Commenting on the news Kyle Mabry, American’s vice president – operations and commercial, EMEA and APAC, said:

“We are thrilled to be carrying even more passengers across the Atlantic this summer, and are happy to be able to cater to the increasing demand for flights to the US from Europe.

“Last summer showed us travel is high on people’s to-do lists, with summer escapes a key highlight each year. Throughout this busy period, we’re excited to be able to provide an additional 14 per cent of flying, helping further establish American as a leading US carrier within Europe.”
