Jack Brooksbank with August

Jack Brooksbank, the husband of Princess Eugenie, celebrated his 35th birthday on 3 May. Eugenie took to social media to praise her ‘love’ and post new pictures of Jack with their newly born baby boy August. Eugenie captioned the image: ‘You are exceptional. Happy birthday my love.’

In the first of three photographs, Jack is holding his baby boy close to his chest with August’s monogrammed cardigan on display to the camera. The adorable top is by Charlene Holden of Uncool Wool and he is also wearing a star embellished hat.

In the second photograph Jack is very much the excitable proud father beaming at the camera with August tucked into a baby carrier and wrapped up warm with a fleece lining. In the third photograph he is pictured in the countryside, walking ahead along the river in the height of spring surrounded by an abundance of daffodils.

Jack became a father on Tuesday 9 February and is now approaching his second month into the defining role. Princess Eugenie gave birth at 8.55am that February morning and they chose to call their baby August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. His middle name was a touching nod to the Queen’s late husband, Prince Philip, who died on Friday 9 April, ahead of ever meeting his new grandson.

The couple chose the name August after Queen Victoria’s consort Prince Albert, who had Augustus as a middle name. Prince Albert is August’s great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. The name was finally announced via Princess Eugenie’s Instagram on 20 February 2021, 11 days after August’s birth and a day after Prince Andrew’s 61st birthday.

Princess Eugenie isn’t the only new royal mother as Zara Tindall, the Princess Royal’s daughter, gave birth to her third child, a baby boy, on Sunday 21 March. Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall, have called their new son, Lucas Philip Tindall. The Duchess of Sussex is also expected to give birth to her second child, a daughter, in June.
