Who will little Lilibet’s new friends be across the pond?

Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their second child, a younger sister to two-year-old Archie. Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana is the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild and is eighth in line to the throne. But, who are likely to be her friends across the pond? Lili and Archie will cross paths with their first cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on occasion, but the half-a-day flight time won’t make that all too easy. Which means Lili will be making friends closer to home – and given their starry inner circle, those friends will likely be the offspring of the A-list. Here’s who we anticipate they’ll be.

  • Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jnr. – daughter of Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian

The three-year-old daughter of tennis-playing supremo Serena Williams is sure to become a swift friend of Lili’s. Despite the family spending most of their time in Florida, there is no doubt they’ll be boarding a plane at the earliest possible opportunity to meet the new addition to the Mountbatten-Windsor brood. Meghan and Serena have been close since 2014 and Serena was among the first to meet Archie following his birth in May 2019 (and, memorably, was a lead host of the ultra-luxe NYC baby shower).

  • Leo and Baby Hess – children of Misha Nonoo and Mikey Hess

New York-based close friend of Meghan’s, the fashion designer Misha Nonoo, revealed in February that she was expecting a baby girl. On arrival, the new baby will be a friend of Lili’s, and as will, Leo, Nonoo’s first child, born in March 2020. Nonoo was formerly married to Alexander Gilkes, a school friend of Princes William and Harry; and, since splitting, has remarried oil heir Mikey Hess. During her first pregnancy, Misha told People magazine, that the Duchess of Sussex had been sharing her advice about becoming a first-time mother. The designer revealed: ‘As with all friendships, you share lots of tips and everything.’

  • Daisy Dove Bloom – daughter of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Prince Harry has struck up relations with Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom and his popstar belle, Katy Perry – they reportedly live ‘just down the road’ from Harry and Meghan in Montecito, California. Harry recently revealed in Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that Bloom had tipped him off about a photographer and the pair ‘keep in touch’ over text. The couple are also parents to a little girl, Daisy Dove, who was born in August 2020 – which means there will be less than a year between Lili and Daisy growing up down the road from each other.

  • Rennie Foster – son of Katharine McPhee and David Foster

David Foster, who has been described as like a ‘father figure’ to Harry, welcomed a son (his first with wife, Katharine McPhee) in February this year. The couple currently live in Los Angeles, but the Daily Mail suggests they are looking to find a place closer to the Sussex family in Montecito. McPhee was at school with Markle – albeit a few years below – and she is the fifth wife of music producer, David Foster, 35 years her senior. There was speculation that the Sussexes and the Fosters celebrated Christmas together last year.

  • Arthur Inskip – son of Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip and wife, Lara

Prince Harry’s childhood friend, Tom Inskip, and wife Lara welcomed their first child together in May last year. These days, Inskip also lives across the pond in Washington DC – for US tech giant Afiniti – and according to the Mail, was making plans to travel to see Harry and Archie on his company’s private jet. The formerly great school friends are thought to have grown apart but have now patched up relations.
