Just a short hop from the Middletons is the duchess’s former prep school, St Andrew’s Pangbourne, which offers an idyllic rural childhood where pupils are encouraged to climb trees and make dens in the grounds – however, the twice daily 45-minute school run from Windsor makes this charming prep an outside chance.

Sadly, the same goes for the delightful Elstree Prep School which, having recently gone co-ed and moments from Bucklebury, would have been a great choice for the royal couple, bar the 45-minute daily drive, giving it the long odds of 20-1.
