Editor’s Notes: Unexpected downpours are no match for ARKET’s new collection of rubber rainwear developed with Tretorn, the Swedish footwear and outerwear brand beloved for its waterproofing expertise.
The range stays classic in a limited color palette of black and khaki green, two shades that go with just about anything. Essentials including a hooded raincoat, waterproof tote bag, and brimmed hat stand up to the elements, thanks to thoughtful detailing such as welded seams and fleece-lined pockets.
There are also rain boots and rain clogs, suitable for gardening or running errands. Extras including children’s rainproof stirrup pants and a waterproof dog jacket will keep your diminutive friends dry.
Also worth noting: all items are constructed from polyurethane partly made of recycled plastic.
ARKET, the H&M-owned high street label that specializes in quality basics, isn’t new to collaborations — however, none of them have been as substantial as its latest Tretorn team-up.
Most recently, ARKET launched a small capsule with painter KG Nilson. Earlier this year, the brand tapped illustrator Linnea Andersson for a series of artful wool blankets and in 2017, it partnered with Apartamento on a T-shirt collection.
Tretorn has been around the block, too, boasting a resumé of collabs with COMME des GARÇONS, J. Crew, Nigel Cabourn, and even Andre 3000. Founded in 1891, the Scandi brand even holds a warrant of appointment to the royal Swedish court — this means officials get some of their footwear exclusively from Tretorn.
If it’s good enough for the royals, it’s probably good enough for us.
