It’s eternal summer here in Singapore, but if you’re looking to get into the spirit of the season, the city’s events are in full swing this month.
There’s plenty to do this month for foodies, art enthusiasts and culture vultures with food festivals, bar crawls and exhibitions in store. Ahead, check out our calendar for July 2022.

Featuring eight Indonesian artists, this exhibition at Mizuma Gallery envisions the Singapore art scene as one of the main pillars of contemporary Asian art today. In a variety of conceptual works, the artists showcase their ongoing process of reading and reconstructing historical records and cultural practices in order to explore the challenges of the future of Asian contemporary art.

Happening on 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th July 2022, the #JoinTheJoy experience is the Italian brand’s way of spreading aperitivo culture – or a fancy way of saying day-drinking – through bar tours and guided experiences in Bayfront, Chinatown, East Coast, and Riverwalk.
Comprising of 20 bars across four different locales, attendees first choose their preferred neighbourhood, then they are given a map to bar hop across five venues in no particular order.
Bars include Picotin and Vue in Bayfront, as well as Potato Head and Alegria in Chinatown. For East Coast, pop into Lime House and the Aperol Spritz Garden pop-up at Hotel Indigo, Katong, or Rosso Vino and BQ Bar at Riverwalk.
Tickets costs S$72.50 per person, and includes five redeemable Aperol Spritzes and a gift bag including a fan, sunglasses, and water.
Alternatively, there is the Guided Aperitivo Experience. Drawing on the Venetian ritual of pairing Aperol Spritz with snacks, the guided tour is meant to showcase the drink’s versatility with different flavours across two Saturdays here.
Like the bar crawl, ticket holders pick their preferred locales for a journey to three restaurants serving Aperol Spritzes and snacks from different cuisines. Participating venues are split across four same districts, and include Town Restaurant at Fullerton Hotel, The Kongsee, Alegria, Potato Head, The Guild, Vue, and Mooloolabar.

STPI has worked with over 100 artists from all around the world through its Visiting Artists Programme, in which artists are invited to explore creating works in print and papermaking. The creative workshop and gallery is showcasing 41 works by 21 of these artists – each a testament to how these mediums can be endlessly reimagined through the creators who push the limits of what can be achieved.

Happening throughout July, the event ropes in 11 restaurants here offering special brunch menus designed to showcase top quality fruits, vegetables, diary, and beef from the city’s home state of Victoria.
Tess Bar & Kitchen, for instance, pairs Bass Strait Beef’s Angus striploin with chimichurri, broccolini, and brown butter almond mash in a set (S$68++) with two cocktails. Meatsmith Little India ladles Yarra Valley trout roe (S$14++) and smoked crème fraîche on pappadums. Avocado toast, the emblem of the brunch-desperate hoard, is redeemed with Victorian macadamia dukkah and beets (S$27++) at Terra Madre.
Is it brunch if you don’t get drunk? The restaurant Symmetry averts tragedy with Bloody Refreshing (S$19++), a cocktail with Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, Campari, Triple Sec, and roselle. At The Kongsee, they blend Victorian fruits together for their Apple, Orange, and Pear Martini (S$20++).
For a pick-me-up before you stumble home, Punch turns to a Brazilian blend by Genovese Coffee, a Melbourne institution since 1970, for flat whites and other caffeine-fuelled brews (S$5.50++ and above). Or opt for Cafe Con Miel (S$6.50++) from Tolido’s Espresso Nook, which features cinnamon and soothing Victorian honey. Check out the full list of venues below, then head to the link to book.

This exhibition for the young and young at heart at SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark transforms the simple material, paper, into various forms. The visually stunning artworks explore the concept of paper as a carrier of ideas and encoded with material intelligence. As part of the Singapore Art Museum’s commitment to sustainability, up to 80 per cent of the material used is based on paper, a renewable resource.

Delve into Southeast Asian heritage through this exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum exploring the rich history and culture of batik and batik-making, from its traditional roots to contemporary designs. Discover over 100 batik masterpieces from overseas and local lenders, as well as rarely seen pieces from the National Collection.
