In an emotional address from the prince, he praised everyday Ukrainian people for their ‘bravery, generosity and fortitude’. He went on to say, ‘I must say my wife and I have been deeply moved by everything we’ve heard today’, describing the current circumstances as an act of ‘truly terrible aggression’.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge acknowledged their concern for Ukrainian citizens via a personal post from their Instagram account, ‘In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelensky and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future’, finishing the message with their signature, ‘W & C’.
We are in a collective state of shock and horror as the invasion of Ukraine continues to unfold in frightening ways. Many of us have been left reeling from news reports as the scale of the human toll has now become clearer.
