Seiko have launched new models within the Prospex family. The new Seiko Speedtimer Series watches are heavily inspired by the brand’s sports timing tradition. The brand has acted as the official timer for many major sporting events. This association has furthered Seiko’s prestige and seniority within the watch industry. This new launch from Seiko is designed with reference to vintage Seiko timepieces. The watches have all of the elegance and style of their vintage counterparts. However each model is built with a precise movement that has been built using modern technologies to ensure for reliable and optimal performance.

The Original Speedtimer

Seiko first introduced the Speedtimer watch in 1969. This watch was powered by the innovative calibre 6139. This model was the world’s first automatic chronograph that features a column wheel and vertical clutch. At the time, this combination of features was incredibly innovative and unheard of, making this watch very unique. The original Speedtimer made a real and significant impact on the watch industry for this reason. The hands are each filled with luminous material to ensure that the dial can be read in low light conditions. A date aperture is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. A black tachymeter bezel frames the dial and a stainless steel case surrounds it. The case measures 39mm in diameter and houses the V192 solar movement that powers the watch. This timepiece is secured on the wrist using a stainless steel bracelet that is fastened using a three-fold clasp with push button release. Additionally, this watch is water resistant up to 100 metres.

This watch features a blue dial with three dark blue sub dials and a date aperture. The dial features silver baton indices and silver hour and minute hands. The stainless steel case measures 39mm in diameter and 13.3mm in case depth for a comfortable fit on the wrist. This watch is powered by a quartz solar movement. This model is finished with a stainless steel bracelet To ensure that the watch is secure on the wrist, it is fastened using a three-fold clasp with push button release.
