Raymond Weil has announced an incredibly exciting addition to its portfolio. The Freelancer Bronze Chronograph Bi-Compax watch is a stunning new launch from the brand. The watch is designed in bronze for a timelessly elegant and eye-catching look. The watch is inspired by the open road. Many aspects of the timepiece are reminiscent of a customised motorbike that was crafted by the artisans of Meister Engineering especially for Raymond Weil. The Freelancer Bronze Chronograph Bi-Compax watch is striking and unique and would make an elegant addition to any watch collection.

The Inspiration

The eye-catching, vintage style of this timepiece is heavily inspired by a custom motorbike. Raymond Weil wanted to procure a customised motorbike to use for promotional material. Through a series of events, this turned into the specialist firm that is now known as Meister Engineering. Each detail of the motorbike is designed with immaculate precision and the watch uses many of these elements. The motorbike inspired Raymond Weil to create a bronze timepiece with a chronograph. The most distinctive similarity between the bike and the watch is that they both have tachymeter and pulsometer scales. This allows the wearer to keep track of various statistics.

The motorbike features the Raymond Weil logo in a rose gold foil. This element is incorporated into the watch through the texture of the bronze case and the two counters on the dial. The dial exhibits a gradient effect that moves from a white centre to a black outer edge. This was influenced by the bike’s gradient paint effect. Additionally, the rich brown calf leather strap of the watch is reminiscent of the motorbike’s leather clad seat.

The Watch (7780-B1-20422)

The Freelancer Bronze Chronograph Bi-Compax watch is a limited edition model. It is limited to just 300 pieces worldwide, making it a very collectable item. The watch is made from bronze, giving it an unusual look. Bronze naturally develops a patina over time which gives each individual model a totally unique look. The dial exhibits a 30-minute chronograph and a small seconds display alongside a date aperture. The date is displayed on a black disc, giving the dial a perfectly clean finish. The hands and indices on the dial are treated with a luminescent substance, ensuring the watch can be read in all light conditions. The dial is protected by sapphire glass which has been treated with an anti-glare finish.

The watch is powered by an automatic movement that provides the timepiece with up to 56 hours of power reserve. An unusual feature of this movement is the W-shaped oscillating weight which pays tribute to Mr Weil. This can be seen through the exhibition case back that is created using anti-glare sapphire glass. The unique features and inspiration behind this limited edition timepiece makes it well-suited to free thinkers and creative individuals. The watch is also available in a combination of bronze and titanium (7780-TB3-20423). This model has vibrant blue details across the dial.
