After the media whirlwind following the publication of Spare and Prince Harry’s surrounding interviews, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have maintained a relatively low profile in recent weeks. Now, the couple have been photographed together on their first big night out since the release of the memoir, as well as returning to the professional sphere with some wellness-focused ventures.
Images shared by US gossip site Page Six showed the couple sheltering from the rain under umbrellas, as they were escorted from a chauffeur-driven car to the entrance of San Vicente Bungalows on Tuesday. Owned by hotelier and restaurateur Jeff Klein, the private members’ club in West Hollywood is a go-to for stars, with its restaurant and overnight rooms open exclusively to members and their guests. The club is known for its discretion, operating a strict no photography policy and social media ban.
Meghan appeared in good spirits for the outing, wearing a chic pair of black leather pants, black heels and a beige coat and smiling broadly. She styled her long hair flowing loose and accessorised with a black clutch bag, possibly a familiar Dior favourite. Harry kept things casual in a grey cardigan, jeans, a navy blue T-shirt and slip-on blue shoes.
The outing comes after Harry’s divisive memoir was reported to have become the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. An unnamed ‘insider’ told Page Six: ‘Harry said he was really happy about the success of the book and the reaction to it… He said he had no regrets about any of the revelations, and he’s relieved to have got his story out into the world.’ The source added that the duke had spoken of an ‘amazing reaction’ to the book and said that the couple ‘seemed to be in extremely good spirits.’
As well as returning to the California social scene (recently attending Ellen DeGeneres’s birthday party/ surprise vow renewal), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who live in the A-list Santa Barbara enclave of Montecito, have also been embarking on new career projects. The duchess has made a cameo in an Instagram Reel posted by Clevr Blends, a ‘self care’ superfood latte brand in which she’s an investor.
Founder Hannah Mendoza says in the video that Meghan was won over by both the products themselves and the fact that the company was ‘proudly women-led’, inspiring her to become ‘first investor, adviser and biggest Clevr advocate’, changing the fortunes of the small company after she sent a Clevr hamper to her friend Oprah Winfrey.
Prince Harry, meanwhile, is set to appear in a live-streamed conversation with Dr Gabor Maté, a renowned Hungarian-Canadian physician, addiction expert, speaker and author who specialises in childhood development. Dr Maté will be speaking to Harry on 4 March following the publication of his latest book, The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture, for an ‘intimate conversation as they discuss living with loss and the importance of personal healing’, as explained on the princeharrymemoir.com website. The £19.12 ticket price also includes a hardcover copy of Spare.
