Ryanair has announced plans to expand at Cork airport next summer, with five new routes and a total of 270 weekly flights.
The carrier will fly to 29 destinations from Ireland’s second largest city, including new services to East Midlands, La Rochelle, Rome, Seville, Venice and Treviso.
There will also be increased frequencies on routes to Alicante, Faro, Liverpool and Palma.
A third aircraft will be based at the airport next year, to enable a 20 per cent growth in weekly flights compared to summer 2022.
The airline said that the expansion had been driven by “Cork Airport’s long-term commitment to maintain competitive airport charges, providing the cost certainty for airlines to invest and grow in the region”.
Ryanair is by far the largest carrier at Cork airport, operating more routes than Aer Lingus, Air France, Edelweiss Air, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss, TUI and Vueling combined.
However Newcastle airport confirmed earlier this year that Ryanair’s flights to and from Cork would cease in March 2023, in favour of a Shannon-Newcastle service.
