This list, of course, does not include Andrew, who stood down from his role after his disastrous links to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were revealed, or Prince Harry, who quit royal life for California following Megxit in January 2020.

Prince Harry’s attendance at any of the Jubilee events has been in doubt due to his dispute with the British Home Office over his security. Earlier this week, it was also revealed that he had signed up to play polo in an American league, with matches on that weekend. However, minutes after Buckingham Palace’s statement was released, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s own spokesperson said: ‘Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honoured to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations with their children.’

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew’s attendance had been speculated over after he was given the prominent role of escorting his 96-year-old mother into Westminster Abbey at his father’s memorial in March.

The monarch herself has not confirmed which Jubilee events she will be attending, with palace sources saying that she will only decide on the day, depending on her health. In recent months, she has been forced to miss several high profile events, including Remembrance Sunday. It is thought she might not attend the State Opening of Parliament next week, due to mobility issues.
