He’s been divorced from his first wife Sarah, Duchess of York for 15 years, and since then has never gone public with another girlfriend, but that didn’t stop staff at Royal Lodge letting a mysterious woman claiming to be Prince Andrew’s fiancée into his home earlier this week.
On Monday, a Spanish 44-year-old woman calling herself Irene Windsor was found on the grounds of the Duke’s Windsor home, even entering the building at one time. After asking a member of staff where Andrew was for a meeting with him, she was held in the Lobby, with police later arriving on scene and arresting her for burglary, after various maps of royal residences were found in her bag. She was later sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
‘She cut quite a glamorous figure and the guards were completely taken in by her,’ a source told The Sun. ‘They had no idea this woman was a total stranger to Andrew and seemingly had a fixation with him.’
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said: ‘Thames Valley police were called to the Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park on Monday morning to reports of a female trespasser. The woman, aged 44, was intercepted and arrested. She was subsequently de-arrested and has been sectioned under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. The investigation into the incident continues, but there was no risk to any individual on the site. Due to the female being sectioned, we will not be commenting further at this time.’
