Phillip, 58, made the remark as he discussed reports that Meghan, 39, had not spoken to the Royal Family since the explosive interview while 36 year old Harry is said to have had “unproductive” talks with Prince Charles and William.
Speaking with commentators Beverley Turner and Gyles Brandreth via video link on Wednesday 17 March’s This Morning show, while he was joined by Holly Willoughby in the studio, Phillip said: “The thing is that there’s been an enormous of sympathy over the race issue and mental health issue – an enormous amount of sympathy.
“But, looking at the polls we had at the moment, that sympathy seems to be ebbing away quite quickly.

“Isn’t there this feeling that: ‘You’ve made your point, essentially, shut up now and get on with your quiet American life.”
He went on: “You’ve stabbed a knife through the heart of the monarchy, of which there were some things that needed to be highlighted, fair enough. But, stop now.”
It comes after Gayle King claimed that the Royal Family still hasn’t spoke to the Duchess of Sussex after the bombshell interview.
Speaking on her CBS programme This Morning on Tuesday 16 March, 66 year old Gayle said: “No one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time.
“And, I think it’s frustrating for them to see that it’s a racial conversation about the Royal Family when all they wanted all along was for the Royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant.
“And until you can acknowledge that, I think it’s going to be hard to move forward. But they both want to move forward with this and they want healing in this family. At the end of the day, that is Harry’s family.”
Meanwhile, Gayle also claimed that Prince Harry has spoke to Prince Charles and Prince William, but not much progress was made in the talks.
She explained: “Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father, too. The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive.
“But they are glad they at least started a conversation. And I think what is still upsetting to them is that the Palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately but yet they release these false stories that are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan still.”
