It was a night of flashing bulbs and full glasses as the man behind the camera of the most pivotal parties of the last four decades, Dave Benett, was front and centre of his own show. Guests headed to Mayfair’s JD Malat gallery for the launch of his new exhibition, Great Shot, Kid, celebrating 40 years in the industry
With fabulous shots of the likes of Diana, Princess of Wales, Liz Hurley and Kate Moss at the most exclusive events plastered on the walls, the heady energy of A-list parties transcended the trendy space. Lady Mary Charteris danced with the man of the hour at the Perrier-Jouët bar which subsequently ran out of bubbles due to an excess of fun. This didn’t bring down any spirits, though, with attendees carrying on the evening regardless while Sadie Frost, who found herself immortalised as part of the curation, posed for photos in front of her 1997 counterpart.
Taking in the offering of excellent imagery, guests shared stories of glitzy nights in the capital’s hotspots – most of which Benett had snapped. Just as the exhibition’s title suggests ‘Great Shot, Kid’ is a toast to one of the party scene’s most prolific characters. After attending countless events, Dave Benett sure knows how to throw a party.
