Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown is pleased to welcome two new additions to the management team in November 2020.

Carl Amos has been appointed as General Manager, Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown, he will be based in the alpine township and brings with him extensive sales and marketing experience.

Joining the hotel from Hospitality New Zealand where he held the position of Marketing, Communications & Events Manager, Amos has a wealth of knowledge and has developed many long-lasting relationships in the hospitality industry. Prior to this role, he was based in Wellington at Tourism Industry Aotearoa leading the Partnerships area, the commercial component for the delivery of TIA’s annual key tourism events.

Prior to returning to New Zealand, Carl was based in Fiji and Samoa with Director of Sales & Marketing roles at Six Senses Fiji, Marketing Services Manager at South Sea Cruises Fiji and Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Samoa.

Beginning his tourism career with the national carrier, Air New Zealand, Amos said that travelling helps him relax, revitalise and at the same time given him to chance to explore many destinations with his favourite destinations being Croatia and Malaysia.

“Many Kiwis I speak to are yet to discover this hidden jewel called mi-pad Queenstown. I love telling everyone about our rooftop terrace, a true Queenstown destination in its own right, and our digital story with our MIA App,” commented Amos.

“I am excited to join the crew at mi-pad Queenstown and look forward to welcoming many more Kiwis in making their own Queenstown story while staying with us.”

In addition, Toby Welford has been appointed as Operations Manager, Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown, he will be based on-property and brings a strong background with hotel operational roles both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Toby Welford

Welford returned to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in 2020, joining Mi-pad Queenstown in September. A Te Anau local, and graduate of Queenstown Resort College, Welford has worked across many of the hotel front-of-house disciplines and was Assistant Manager at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside in Queenstown before departing for the United Kingdom.

While in the United Kingdom, he gained additional front office experience with independent properties such as Home House in London and Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire before taking a break from the hospitality industry to undertake personal travel around the United Kingdom and Europe. Welford returned to New Zealand in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic swept across Europe.

“Bringing my operational knowledge from a variety of properties in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, I see Mi-pad Queenstown perfectly placed as a blueprint for the future of accommodation hospitality in New Zealand,” remarked Welford.
