Ennismore has chosen Singapore’s vibrant Duxton Hill neighborhood as the destination for its latest Mondrian property. Set among the district’s colorful shophouses and restaurants, the new outpost is set to become one of the hottest hangout spots in the city.

Slated to welcome its first guests in March 2023, the hotel will boast 303 elegant guest rooms, a gourmet eatery, a cocktail bar and a rooftop pool with killer views of Singapore’s towering skyscrapers.

Los Angeles-based design firm Studio Carter was brought in to craft the striking interiors, effortlessly merging modern details with traditional Singaporean architecture.

“Rather than a direct translation of the classic shophouse, we took its parts and deconstructed it into contemporary forms,” said the founder of Studio Carter, Robyn Carter. “We wanted to recognize it, but also reinvent it, that Singapore silhouette, and rediscover old details in contemporary and unexpected touches. It’s a beautiful merger of the botanical green city, the shophouses, the cultural convergence, the new with the historical.”

The minimalist rooms will feature heritage arches and shutters, alongside bespoke wooden furnishings and soft woven rugs. If you’re looking for something really special, consider booking the Mondrian Shophouse Suite. Located up on the top floor with a sloping pitched ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows, the 1,377-sq-ft abode features a separate living and dining area, as well as a sprawling marble bathroom complete with a monsoon shower and freestanding tub.

In a nod to its surroundings, Mondrian Singapore Duxton will also be home to a permanent art collection featuring an array of works from both emerging and established Singaporean and international artists.

Perhaps most impressive of all, however, is the new outpost’s culinary offering. The famed Italian butcher Dario Cecchini will oversee the hotel’s Tuscan eatery, Bottega di Carna. Helmed by executive chef Alastair Clayton (previously of Marina Bay Sands) and chef de cuisine Kenny Huang, food will be served with a touch of theatre in the open kitchen adorned with prime cuts of meat.

As for drinks, Mondrian Singapore Duxton will boast its very own tropical cocktail bar, Jungle Ballroom, accessed by a secret tunnel, and a 1970’s Hollywood-inspired Rooftop Bar where you can enjoy fresh seafood dishes and heady cocktails while soaking up the city views.

For general manager Robert C. Hauck, the new hotel will be a place to gather “a true community of creatives and free-thinkers, and provoking conversations, imaginations and culture. I see Mondrian becoming the beating heart of this extraordinary city, a catalyst to forge connections with like-minded people, innovators and the wild at heart.”
