After taking some off from Good Morning Britain due to being ill, Kate Garraway made her return and shared an update on husband Derek’s ongoing coronavirus battle in hospital.
The mum-of-two, who was praised by her co-star and pal Ranvir Singh, shared her heartache over not being able to see Derek since the Christmas period.
Speaking during her return to GMB on Thursday, the 53 year old said: “I haven’t been able to see him since Christmas, we’re back into situation of looking at strangers in masks.

“That’s the situation for everybody at the moment. It’s tough. When you’re someone like him, dealing with a consciousness problem and trying to emerge, I can’t help but fear it’s not helpful.
“There’s no end in sight to that. There’s no one to blame or be angry with. It’s tough,” she shared.
The broadcaster recently took some time off from work due to illness, which she believes is down to the immense amount of stress and pressure she’s been under for the last year.
While in conversation with co-host Ben Shepherd, Kate said: “I haven’t been feeling very well.
“I think it’s where chickens come home to roost over a long year. Took some holiday leave at home, had a lot of sleep and feel much better.”
Kate’s husband Derek has been in hospital since March last year, after her contracted coronavirus and his condition continued to deteriorate.
The journalist, who said Derek’s future is uncertain, recently said she was struggling to cope with being a single mum to children Darcey, 14, and William, 11, while her husband is in hospital.
She told Good Housekeeping: “I’m not sure I am coping! I honestly don’t know how single mums do it; it’s just so hard.
“A lot of the time I find myself thinking, ‘What would Derek say?’ and ‘What would Derek do?'”
