There’s a new generation rising – and we’ve got them covered in the December issue. First up, there’s Elias Becker and Lady Lola Bute, the son of Wimbledon champion Boris and the daughter of late race car driver, Johnny, the Marquess of Bute, respectively, who are the dual cover stars. Both are in the top 10 of the Little Black Book – the ultimate guide to the hottest dates in the land – which returns after a hiatus, better than ever. A guide to the 200 sexiest, sassiest and most social names in the land, it spans everyone from Emma Raducanu to the Duke of Westminster, Lady Louise Windsor to Jude Bellingham.

Elsewhere in the issue, the search is on for Britain’s Greatest Host, as entertaining and the art of the dinner party make a much-welcomed return. Does the china suit the season? Are the napkins fashion-forward? Lohralee Astor,  Lady Alice Herbert and the Marchioness of Bath are amongst the contenders who know the answers to these questions and more.

Plus, Lara Johnson-Wheeler writes movingly on the art of her late grandmother, Charlotte Johnson Wahl – the mother of the current prime minister – who died at the age of 79 in September. A talented and prolific painter, she was known for her biographical works, as well as her portraits of other people, including Joanna Lumley and Jilly Cooper. Yet it was her signature – a shaky outline of a flat hand – that sticks out most in her granddaughter’s imagination.

She’s one of the most glamorous and intriguing characters in the British aristocracy today, swapping private jets and martinis in Manhattan for tractors and tortoise breeding in Kent. Catherine Ostler travels to Lees Court Estate to meet Countess Sondes, one of our most unconventional aristocrats.

The latest must-visit destination? It’s not a private island in the Maldives or a luxury chalet in Verbier – it’s literally out of this world. As space travel becomes a viable option for the super-rich, we look at what it entails, from astronaut orientation to a menu designed by Alain Ducasse.

And it’s not just outer space that’s hot – it’s the astral planes, too, with anyone who’s anyone having a psychic on speed-dial right now. We track down the top tarot readers, astrologers and clairvoyants – from the psychic the fashion crowd recruit for parties, to the local healer who the social set turn to in times of need.

And finally, this season’s latest fashion is showcased in all its fabulousness in a Paris couture special.
