Ikano Centres Malaysia is expanding its Batu Kawan mixed-use development with a portfolio of new tenants.

Grocery retailer Tunas Manja Group and Malaysia-based home appliance brand Mr DIY are slated to open outlets at Batu Kawan in the fourth quarter of this year. Meanwhile, several retailers, including KFC, A&W, Tealive and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, will join the shopping centre’s F&B drive-thru concept later this year.

“The Tealive outlet in Batu Kawan will be the first Tealive drive-thru in Malaysia to be built with a hot kitchen,” said Bryan Loo, CEO of Loob Holdings and brand owner of Tealive. “This allows us to expand our Tealive Eats menu for the local community to try out.”

To expand its offering, Ikano Centres commit to creating an additional 62,000sqft of gross leasable space in the Ikea-anchored location, while securing a deal to introduce a petrol station in the area. Subsequent phases of the mixed-use development will be developed aligned with expansion plans of the growing Aspen Vision City township.

“At the start of every new development under our portfolio, we fully invest in understanding the needs of the communities that we are a part of,” said Arnoud Bakker, commercial director at Ikano Centres.

“We recognise the importance of introducing a supermarket, more dining options, and other essential stores into our tenant mix.”
