Drake—what’s going on in that heart-bedecked mind of his? He’s been in the studio preparing his sixth studio LP, Certified Lover Boy, which he’s been teasing since last fall and was originally scheduled to drop in January. Last Friday, he finally revealed on Sound 42’s “Fri Yiy” radio show that the “album’s cooked” and he’s looking forward to delivering its sounds to our ears. In the meantime, the Six God’s been dropping plenty of clues as to how his new era might look. Let’s read some of the style tea leaves.

More than most, Drake is deeply attuned to the power of virality, and the kind of outfit that might precipitate a meme’d moment—which, more over than not, might involve him wearing an oversized sweater. Ever since his homerun “Hotline Bling” moment thanks in no small part to a particular slouchy Acne turtleneck, Drake is well aware that a cozy fit is a surefire way to get the internet to lose its collective mind. He’s been keeping up his luxe knitwear game ever since, and if his latest viral sweater selfie is any indication, Drake is prepared to keep showing us his softer side.

Back in October 2020, Drake dropped his Certified Lover Boy collab with Nike, finally granting the public a chance to cop the incredibly cool pink heart-quilted jacket he wore in the product-tastic “Laugh Now, Cry Later” video he’d dropped nearly three months earlier. Other products in the line are decked out with roses and ski-mask-wearing Cupids (hmm… interesting). Certainly, we’ll be seeing more CLB Nike merch on the way. Hey, a longer album lead-up means extended opportunities for commerce!

And the rumor mill is heating up with talk Drizzy’s as-yet-unreleased NOCTA x Nike sneaker, thought to be called the Hot Step Air Terra. (NOCTA is the name of Drake’s sub-label brand partnership with Nike, named for his noted nocturnal creative process.)

As seen on his Instagram and also in the “Laugh Now, Cry Later” video, which was filmed partially at Nike HQ, he’s been wearing the shoes around for a while. Its toothed sole assures us that this lover boy’s still got a bite. And speaking of…

Every Certified Lover Boy needs to get around, and needs something to wear while traveling: behold the Drake x Chrome Hearts Rolls Royce, a one-of-one vehicle featuring cross-embossed leather seats and rims engraved with the words “Fuck You.” Drake’s been loving on Chrome Hearts lately, so naturally the custom job came with its own accompanying limited-release merch drop. What can we say? Drake contains multitudes.
