On 14 March, the Queen did not attend the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey with fellow members of the Royal Family. The decision for her absence came as a result of Her Majesty’s desire to be in the best health possible for her husband’s memorial service and it was recently announced that the monarch will be significantly reducing her public appearances going forward, for the benefit of her health.
The Queen is said to have been ‘having issues moving around’, recently appearing with a walking stick, and is described as having ‘good days and less good days’. On the day of the Duke of Edinburgh’s memorial service, it is reportedly planned that she will be flown by helicopter from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace, where she will be driven to the abbey.
