With borders now opened and Hari Raya celebrations can resume back home, Suria KLCC has also set up its very own kampung house, inspired by Rumah Melayu Melaka.
As the month of Ramadan wears on and the country prepares to celebrate the joy of Syawal, Suria KLCC rolls out its own attractions in the glittering spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. From now until 8th May, the mall has been transformed into ‘Atuk’s Orchard’ — celebrate in a traditional kampung house in an orchard setting; and get a photo op with Malaysia’s Biggest Lampu Pelita Replica at the Esplanade.
“Malaysia’s Biggest Lampu Pelita Replica, as recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records 2022, is our contribution to enliven the atmosphere in the city for Ramadan and Syawal,” expresses Encik Md Shah, the Chairman of Suria KLCC. “As Malaysia’s premier mall, we believe in doing our part to bring much needed cheer to everyone following two years of living through the various forms of the movement control order.”
Suria KLCC’s Christmas Shoppers’ Reward Programme rewards you when you spend at least RM1,500 in two receipts at any specialty store — from now until May 1, you can get up to RM100 worth of Suria KLCC shopping vouchers and a set of Suria KLCC Raya packets.
After spending the last two Hari Raya celebrations in lockdown, Suria KLCC puts on a grand welcome to the spirit of ‘balik kampung’, along with its main centrepiece, to invoke the spirit and joy of Ramadan and Syawal.
Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane
Befitting the occasion, right in the Centre Court of Suria KLCC sits a traditional rumah kampung, inspired by ‘Rumah Melayu Melaka’, showcasing its vibrant and multicoloured motifs. There, you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush fruit trees that are all adorned with colourful festive lights and lampu pelita (oil lamps).
The orchard setting has been meticulously decorated to provide a nostalgic backdrop. From a pangkin (wooden hut) complete with a parked Proton Saga to evoke memories of travelling in Atuk’s car, to traditional childhood activities such as teng teng (hopscotch) and congkak, you and your family can enjoy the perfect photo opportunity when you take a stroll through Atuk’s Orchard.
Even more photo opportunities can be found at Level 1 of Ramlee Mall with a mini installation of Atuk’s Orchard. On top of that, photo booths are placed across the mall so you’ll be able to take ‘Family Portrait’ photos to commemorate the moments, complete with complimentary photo print-out and e-copy for social media.
What better way to complete the festive mood than with cultural dance performances? At certain hours in the Centre Court, you will be able to watch performers carry out the traditional dances as you walk around the mall. To further enliven the spirit of Ramadan, from 23rd April — exactly ten days before Hari Raya — kurma will be placed at the Concierge Counter as a treat for those who have been fasting for the day.
Even more rewards in Suria KLCC Group malls
You’ll be able to enjoy the Atuk’s Orchard over at Alamanda Shopping Centre as well, until 2nd May. There will be a redemption programme, where you will be able to receive an exclusive ceramic canister and Alamanda’s Raya packets when you spend RM700 and above in not more than two receipts from any specialty store. Those who spend RM1,500 or more will receive an additional gift: either a RM40 Manhattan Fish Market voucher, or an exquisite Noor Arfa scarf, or a RM50 Alamanda shopping voucher.
In spreading even more festive cheer, cultural performances including caklempong, angklung, inang and zapin dance will be carried out to entertain you, as well as an exclusive ketupat weaving workshop as well as paper cup pelita workshop for VIKids members.
Atuk’s Orchard will also make its debut in Kemaman’s Mesra Mall, where the Centre Court will be adorned with a variety of fruit trees reflecting life within a typical ‘kampung’ setting. Henna painting workshops are also available during the mall opening hours, until 30th April. On top of that, you can bring your young daughters and little sisters (under 9 years old) to vie for the “Miss Little Kebaya” title, where they can flaunt their best kebaya outfits and stand a chance to win prizes.
Along with the Hari Raya celebrations, those who spend at least RM350 at Mesra Mall in no more than two receipts from any specialty store will receive an exclusive ceramic jar and a pack of Mesra’s Raya packets.
