Twenty Filipinos have landed on Forbes’ World’s Billionaires list for 2022. Real estate tycoon and former politician Manny Villar tops the Philippines’ richest with a net worth of $8.3 billion—making him the 263rd richest globally.
Newcomers on the world’s richest list are Monde Nissin’s president Betty Ang and couple Grace and Dennis Anthony Uy of Converge ICT Solutions.

Ang’s net worth is $1.2 billion, while Grace and Dennis Anthony’s are estimated at $1.2 billion and $1 billion, respectively.
At 2,578th place out of the 2,668 sports are the brothers behind Page Industries (the Philippine licensee for Jockey and exclusive Indian licensee of Speedo), Nari, Ramesh, and Sunder Genomal, with a net worth of $1 billion each.
All six children of the late SM founder Henry Sy are the country’s wealthiest after Villar and Container Terminal Services Inc.’s Enrique Razon Jr. ($6.7 billion).
Henry Jr. ($2.8 billion), Hans ($2.6 billion), Herbert ($2.6 billion), Harley ($2.4 billion), Teresita ($2.4 billion), and Elizabeth ($2.1 billion) have a combined net worth of $14.9 billion.

The other Filipino billionaires on the global wealth list include Alliance Global’s Andrew Tan ($2.8 billion), Top Frontier Investment Holdings, Inc., the largest shareholder of San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon Ang ($2 billion), JG Summit’s Lance Gokongwei ($1.6 billion), Jollibee Foods Corporation’s Tony Tan Caktiong ($1.3 billion), Asia Brewery, Inc. and Philippine Airlines, Inc.’s Lucio Tan ($1.2 billion), and Alphaland’s Roberto Ongpin ($1 billion).
In January, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the world’s wealthiest people, the globe’s most wealthy, cumulatively became $1 trillion richer last year.
The US is still the country with the most billionaires with 735 people, including Tesla and SpaceX’s Elon Musk at the number one spot with $219 billion.
Meanwhile, Barbados, Bulgaria, Estonia, and Uruguay got their first billionaires this year, namely Rihanna, Georgi and Kirli Domuschiev, Kristo Kaarmann, Andres Bzurovski, and Sergio Fogel.
