Firefighters have held to one acre a fire was reported in the Santa Clara River bed Saturday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m. near the Whites Canyon Road bridge just north of Via Princessa. 

No structures were being threatened by fire, according to Jeremy Stafford, a supervising fire dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

Stafford said Metrolink decided just after 5 p.m. to hold rail service at the Metrolink station off of Via Princessa as a precautionary measure. 

A county fire helicopter that conducted a water drop was assigned to the riverbed fire for 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is unknown as of 5:15 p.m., according to Stafford.
