We’re bidding our goodbyes (for now) to the hustle and bustle of fashion week(s).
You may have seen the creative virtual presentation and shows from your favourite designers on display but we’re highlighting the eye-grabbing silhouettes we love. If you’re not caught up on the amazing AW21 moments from the runway so far, we’ve highlighted the best moments from the fashion month that’s worth raving about in our opinion.
Who said you can’t flaunt bright colours during the gloomy winter? Creative director Jonathan Anderson has proven that you can with his explosion palette of abstract bright and acrylic hues. This collection was heavily inspired by geometry as romantic lines, curves and fluidity take control. Lovers of this silhouette are going to love what Loewe has to offer next season. You’ve got the quilted coats with neckerchief hems, long tailored jackets, long dresses with flaps, edgy tassels and tons of drapes – sultry peek-a-boo cut-outs are a thing too. While we do love the playfulness from these flowy silhouettes, it’s never wrong to add some edge once in a while with leather body pieces.
Tweed has always played an important role in Chanel. This AW21 season, the collection takes inspiration from the “ski spirit” – think ski pants, quilted outerwear and puffer jackets with a trendy twist. The Maison’s artistic director, Virginie Viard was inspired by Chanel’s Fall 1994 collection where fake-fur suits and coats walked the runway. This time, you’ll see it reimagined in go-to black’s and white’s with the key piece of the night, a hot pink shearling coat. We can foresee these pieces make their way out in the mountains or ski resorts but the versatility works for a night out too – the cropped tweed blazers, sheer dresses, midi-length crochet skirts and balloon pants.
It wouldn’t be a winter collection without using the mountains as inspiration. Miu Miu has taken the collection to greater heights (literally) by premiering the collection at the Cortina d’Ampezzo in the Italian Alps. With the pandemic, you’ve got a crossover of loungewear-meets-skiwear that depicts perfectly the current situation we’re all experiencing. From nightgown dresses to leg warmers and comfy shearling, it’s a post-lockdown feel. Kick it out with a bang by flaunting in something comfy yet so daring at the same time.
We’re obsessed with Tory Burch’s collection for Autumn/Winter this year. It’s giving us that city girl living in New York vibe that every girl has always dreamed of. You’ve got the humble layering, cinched flared dresses, structured jackets, midi-length skirts and more – it’s giving us that late ‘70s to ‘80s vibe too. The colour palette is filled with gorgeous neutrals mixed with bold hues in purple, red and blues – this is a great styling tip to have when mixing colours in our winter wardrobe. Our favourite? The disco collars and layering a sleeveless vest over the dreamy puffy-sleeved dress.
Longchamp has one theme in mind when Creative Director, Sophie Delafontaine was creating this collection: true Parisian woman. It’s obvious how this collection describes this perfectly with the cashmere tops, flowy dresses, matching sets, cropped jackets and whimsical jumpsuits. It’s all about embracing that softness with positive and strong energy. Not only are the pieces ideal for the heat but they’ll match well with your summer attire too.
