At the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, held in Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, Zendaya made history as the youngest actor to have two major Emmy titles under her name . On Monday, the 26-year-old won the outstanding lead actress in a drama series—the same title she was awarded in 2020.

Both Emmys were given for Zendaya’s role as Rue Bennett, the drug-addicted teen of HBO’s Euphoria. The latest win also makes the California native the first Black woman to win twice in the category.
Her fellow drama lead actress nominees were Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Melanie Lynskey (Yellow Jackets), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), and Resse Witherspoon (The Morning Show).

“My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me,” she said in her acceptance speech. “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”
Zendaya also thanked Euphoria’s creator, Sam Levinson, “for believing in me and even in moments when I didn’t believe in myself.”
