When Dyson first introduced its very first smart light in 2019, its main focus was to shed a light on eye strain and fatigue, as well as allowing people to adjust to the local daylight timing and provide you with an adequate amount of “sunshine”. The Lightcycle Morph has since gone through its first upgrade last year and has become even more intelligent in 2021. What does the upgraded Lightcycle Morph have in store for us this time?

One light, four ways

Like its predecessor, the Lightcycle Morph can be transformed into four different kinds of lighting with just a few swivels and manoeuvres. First, you can use it as a task light when you need a strong light source when working, handling small and intricate tasks, or even putting on makeup. A second way is to use it as an ambient light to relax and unwind in the evenings — this is when the light takes on a warmer tone emitting out of the body tube. You can also use the Lightcycle Morph as an indirect light to bounce off walls and ceilings, very much like you would for a regular lamp. Finally, the fourth way you can use the lamp is as a feature light to really highlight art pieces or decorative features in your home.

Intelligent artificial light

One of the key features of the Dyson Lightcycle Morph is that it has can be set via your app to mimic the local daylight conditions. While this feature may not seem necessary in a country like ours that doesn’t have four seasons, you’ll soon see that it can come in useful especially if your home doesn’t get much natural light. The Lightcycle Morph will emit the same amount of sunlight that the area you’re in is supposed to get, putting your circadian rhythm in tune with your location. With three warm and three cool light settings within one lamp, you won’t need to manually adjust your light to change from cool to warm as the sun goes down.

Another intelligent feature this light has is ‘Age Adjust’, which is nifty considering that people of different ages need different light strength. By putting your age into the app, the light can adjust the brightness according to your age, which decreases any eye strain you might be used to having while working. However, if you’re unsure of what sort of lighting you might need, the light also has seven pre-set modes for you to select: Study, Relax, Precision, Boost, Wake-up, Sleep and Away.

Sleek and minimal design

It goes without saying that the Lightcycle Morph is hands down, the best looking smart lamp in the market. It has a sleek and tubular design with easily-manoeuvrable hinges for you to adjust your light source. The Dyson Lightcycle Morph comes in a Desk and Floor variant, as well as two colours for each variant: Black/Black and White/Silver.

It may outlive you

Yes, the Lightcycle Morph can go for 60 years without needing you to change the bulb. It’s not your regular LED lamp that heats up and just dies — it’s engineered with Dyson’s heat pipe technology to draw heat away from the LED. This gives a constant energy-free cooling cycle, so you can have long-lasting and good quality lighting for over 60 years.

The all-new Dyson Lightcycle Morph is now available at the Dyson Demo Store in The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Southkey, as well as online. It’s priced at RM2,499 for the Desk variant and RM3,799 for the Floor variant.
